As hollow as the barrel itself is, it should be full for its intended purpose. Two by two, the barrels stand up there in the “warehouse”, which is to be understood more as a metaphorical space defined by the contours formed by the beams. They are connected to each other strap to strap, it‘s hard to believe how much fits inside. They are stored end to end and remain together until they are empty or their contents are needed elsewhere. Now you think they both have room on this fork in the beam, while one barrel stands more securely, the other tips over; it wasn‘t the last drop that caused the barrel to overflow, it was the other one that simply took the space to stand securely.

Passive Income, Multiplier installation

2024 Engraved aluminium bats A late-capitalist term, a dead giveaway, promoted by internet business coaches as the true means to a carefree life. „Passive income is a type of unearned income that is earned or maintained automatically and with minimal effort.“ (Wikipedia US) It is nothing more or less than the neoliberal version of a socialist concept, namely that of the unconditional basic income, whereby the individual is able to make a living through the state without being existentially dependent on an employer or hit by perpetual regression. One would think he deserves it, while he exploits, must exploit, the weak and vulnerable in the system, at the expense of what is still there. Ultimately, both terms are symptoms of a desire to have time to concentrate on something that is worth something to oneself.

At the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna, (MAK), installed on furniture by Adolf Loos.

„They aimed to break down the boundaries between fine art and handwork and to promote the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk.“ Throughout its existence, the Wiener Werkstätte was confronted with financial problems. Following the economic pressure of the worldeconomic crisis, it was closed in 1932. An even older design wisdom: „Form follows function“ from that time. „Design follows cost efficiency“ is the new guiding principle, consumer behavior behavior is subordinated to the design efficient everyday life. Consumer goods must either fit into our lives in a space-saving integrated into our lives or be be disposable at the next corner. The tea set, which can also be used indirectly as symbol for an afternoon break, is in its arranged form somehow similar to the fast food menu, but in view of our fast-paced and individualized society, it is merely a visual metonym. The fast food menu stands for the individual choice of consumption, products that mostly are wrapped or served in single use materials and the „fast food“ principle which follows the image of a fast pace society, forgetting about taking it‘s time for the good.

In the world of Minecraft, players eagerly embark on a quest for diamonds. Armed with pickaxes, they explore underground caverns, facing challenges and dangers. With each block broken, anticipation grows until they uncover a precious blue diamond. These gems symbolize dedication, rarity, and the thrill of adventure. As players emerge victorious, diamonds in hand, they remain captivated by Minecraft‘s endless possibilities.

The minecraft world itself regenerates itself while walking towards the horizon. In the same time the endless exploitation of our real world seems to let us face the horizon, flooding towards us.

Head Office installation

2023 Objects; ripped suits, kicked chairs, baseball bats

The RC Showroom at Schottentor is situated above the heads of passengers on their way to work; on their way down to catch the subway on time, a meeting room is visualized above them. The structure of the installation and the people who have to pass under it already creates the feeling of a head office sitting above us all. The visualized confrontation is meant to convey the discomfort and comment on the low human emotions that result from pressure in a capitalist society. The scene conveys the symptom of the „elbow mentality.“ A wild round of meetings with torn suits, overturned chairs and two baseball bats is meant to symbolize an ongoing state of struggle and bitterness towards fellow human beings.
